Retrain your hair with this traditional form of self-care. Brushing is an essential step in restoring luster and softness to the hair.

By massaging and moving the scalp, our boar bristles redistribute natural hair oils and synthetic bristles remove dirt and debris.

DRY BRUSHING
Incorporate dry hair brushing into your daily ritual morning and night. The process takes approximately 60 to 90 seconds in total.

Flip your head down and brush from the nape of your neck through the end of your hair shaft. You want to feel the teeth of the brush on the scalp. This cleans your hair at the root and distributes healthy natural oils. Brush from back to front, side to side, and repeat in the direction the follicles do not go naturally.

BRUSH CARE
On average, it is natural to lose up to 100 hairs a day. Your brush will collect follicles, dust, and debris from the atmosphere. When you see this buildup, use a comb to gently remove out of your brush pad.

FAQS

We recommend using the dry brush morning and night. With your head flipped upside down, brush from back to front and side to side for 60 seconds. You want to feel the teeth of the brush on your scalp, taking the follicles in directions they never get to go. While your head is flipped upside down the blood flow is moving, boosting the follicle root. Once you flip upright, give your hair a few moments to settle, using your fingers to help where needed.

We believe in dry brushing. Dry brushing is about maintenance, while wet brushing is about an aesthetic choice. Dry brushing is like exercising your hair and scalp. Just as the whole body benefits from daily movement, our hair and scalp also like to be moved around and challenged a little bit. After working with thousands of clients, we can confidently say that starting a daily dry brushing practice will yield more benefits over time than any other tools or products we have ever seen.

All hair types will see benefits from consistent dry brushing. For those whose aging hair is thinning, this is the best preventative tool we have to help strengthen the hair at the root. For those who wear their hair curly and don’t typically use a brush or want to disrupt their finished look, we suggest dry brushing before showering or rinsing one’s hair to reap the benefits. Brush whenever and wherever you can because we promise the effort will pay off.

Use a regular comb to clean out your brush every 5-10 days. Tap the brush along a counter or wall after combing to shake out small debris. Your brush will contain a lot of build up, which is totally normal and a healthy benefit of dry brushing to remove it from your scalp. Once every 3-6 months use our Only Cleanser to clean your brush more thoroughly if needed. Softly rinse the bristles and then mindfully work the cleanser through the brush pad. Never submerge your brush and make sure to air dry completely after cleansing, especially in natural direct sunlight, if possible.

Yes. Shedding, dust, and debris are common, normal and healthy. On average we lose 100 follicles a day as part of the healthy regenerating scalp ecosystem. The atmosphere alone carries fine particles that we can barely see that get lodged in our hair, so it’s great to actually see the build up in your brush as it means you’re tending to your hair. For people who struggle with dry scalp or harsh climates, this exercise is a game changer. Releasing dry skin from the scalp means your follicles will be able to breathe and gain strength.

While the objective is to dry brush your scalp, you can do both! If you have long, easily tangled hair, or super long and thick hair, getting to your scalp might be more of a challenge. Start at the ends and brush gently and thoroughly to the midshaft before flipping your head upside down. Then brush from scalp to the ends using your other hand to hold some of the weight of your hair. Turn your head slightly to access your scalp as you brush through your hair in sections.
